How to dress nice on a shoestring budget - submitted by Dustin
A great way to save money on clothing is to shop the clearance section. I can’t think of a piece of clothing I own that I paid full price for. When I shop, I always head straight for the ‘yellow’ signs that say clearance. I usually shop Kohl’s, Ross, and Target and typically find great deals. Last fall, I found cargo shorts for $2.50 and t-shirts for $1.50 at Kohl’s. During the summer, I found cargo pants on clearance for $5.00. Shopping clearance takes patience, so don’t go shopping when you’re forced to because you probably won’t find what you need. It usually takes a few trips to find the really good discounted items. I recently bought a pinstriped suit at Target on clearance for $35.00; however, it took me a couple of trips to find the deal. At the Parry Ellis Outlet store, I found dress shirts on clearance for $5.00 and ties for $2.00. This also goes for shoes. I recently needed dress shoes and looked all over Kohl’s and could only find dress shoes for $50+. As I was leaving the store, I noticed they had a clearance section for shoes. I found $70 dress shoes on clearance for $10.00. Now I consider that a deal! My average wardrobe (including shoes) cost under $25. With a little patience, you can look good on a shoestring budget.
